Private by design
The intended production architecture is end-to-end encrypted so that room content can be read only on authorised members' devices. This prototype demonstrates the intended experience. Its encryption architecture has not yet been implemented or independently audited.

Beta messages are stored as readable content. Sign-in and database permissions control access; they are not encryption. Please do not share sensitive information.
Private conversations
The production intention is that messages between people, shared photographs, voice notes and confirmed plans are end-to-end encrypted.
Asking mesj
When you deliberately ask for ideas for a recommendation, the approved request may need to be processed by a recommendation service. mesj shows exactly what would be shared before making that request. The private conversation itself is not shared automatically.
